Viktor

Denise von Schmalz

Qualifications:
Denise Angeloni von Schmalz was born in Brazil and received a permanent Canadian resident status, making her eligible for Canadian citizenship, in 1995. With extensive experience in Canada, as well as some experience in Scotland and England, she has worked together with her husband, Prof. Ray von Schmalz, on the development of the method of the Canadian English Centre since before the foundation of the school. She has a degree in pedagogy and a specialization degree in educational psychology. In addition to being a teacher, she is also head of the Pedagogy Department of the Canadian English Centre.

Viktor

Viktor von Schmalz

Qualifications:

Although Viktor Hans von Schmalz was born in Brazil, he is a speaker of English as a first language, having received his permanent Canadian resident status, which made him eligible for Canadian citizenship, in 1995, when still an infant. A Computer Systems Analyst and Developer, graduated from the Federal University of Paraná, with extensive experience in Canada, as well as some experience in Scotland and England, receiver of a C2 Grade-A English Proficiency Certificate, from the University of Cambridge, U.K., the highest English Proficiency Certification issued in Europe, Viktor has been helping his father, Prof. Ray von Schmalz, since age 10, when he helped assisting students in the school lab. At age 14, he was already behind the online programs of the school. He is co-author of Reading Book One and has helped to develop new computer systems for the Canadian English Centre. He is also co-author of the method of Speedway English School, part of the Canadian English Centre Group. Viktor is also a talented musician and song writer, with some of his productions published on YouTube.

Will

Austin Siegfried

Qualifications:
Austin Michael Siegfried is from Buffalo, New York, which is located close to the Canadian border, and has extensive experience with Canadian Culture. A college graduate in Arts and International Studies, Austin also has a degree in TESL, Teacher of English as a Second Language, and General Linguistics, as well as extensive international experience in Argentina, Korea, and Europa. The Canadian English Centre has brought Prof. Austin Siegfried through our Teachers’ Exchange Program, after a strenuous selection process that lasted almost a year, during which he was personally trained via Skype by Prof. Ray von Schmalz. He is expected to stay with the Canadian English Centre throughout 2018 as a resident teacher, not only giving classes in our Book 3 program, but also participating in several complementary activities, which are offered free of charge to our students, such as conversation classes on selected topics, debates on documentary films, lectures, and continuous support in our Language Lab.

Will

Will Furtado

Qualifications:
Guilherme Furtado dos Guimarães Peixoto, or Will Furtado, as we call him, is a Brazilian who has been part of our team since 2004, when he graduated from our regular program and began to work as a lab attendant. He was Prof. Ray von Schmalz’s direct assistant for five years, when he mastered the essential concepts of our Basic Program to such an extent that he was invited to join the Teachers’ Training Program and has excelled as a teacher for Book Zero, Book One and Book Two.

Thati Medeiros

Qualifications:
Thatiane Medeiros de Vasconcelos is a Brazilian, as well as a Portuguese citizen, with some experience in Europe, and a graduate from the Canadian English Centre's Advanced Academic English Program. Having worked for us as a lab monitor and then as an intern, when she helped students during our Friday Fun classes, she became popular among the participants for her natural-born teaching skills. Today she's pursuing her academic degree in language education and has been assisting Prof. Ray von Schmalz in coordinating the school activities. She is a teacher for the Book Zero and Book One programs.

Shoji Nagatuyio

Qualifications:
Dorival Shoji Nagatuyio is a Brazilian and a graduate from the Canadian English Centre's Advanced Academic English Program. After having worked for us as a lab monitor and then as an intern, Prof. Ray von Schmalz noticed his enormous dedication and natural-born teaching talent and invited him to join the Teachers' Training Program. Shoji has a Bachelor's Degree in IT from the UFPR and a Business Administration Degree from FESP-PR, as well as almost 30 years of experience working at a large multinational company, which brought him extensive experience in the proper use of business English, through daily contact with foreigners. Today he is taking a number of online English-teaching courses offered by the British Council at the Universities of Southamptom, Reading, and Leeds, all in the United Kingdom.
