Our Teachers

Qualifications: Denise Angeloni von Schmalz was born in Brazil and received a permanent Canadian resident status, making her eligible for Canadian citizenship, in 1995. With extensive experience in Canada, as well as some experience in Scotland and England, she has worked together with her husband, Prof. Ray von Schmalz, on the development of the method of the Canadian English Centre since before the foundation of the school. She has a degree in pedagogy and a specialization degree in educational psychology. In addition to being a teacher, she is also head of the Pedagogy Department of the Canadian English Centre.

Qualifications: Although Viktor Hans von Schmalz was born in Brazil, he is a speaker of English as a first language, having received his permanent Canadian resident status, which made him eligible for Canadian citizenship, in 1995, when still an infant. A Computer Systems Analyst and Developer, graduated from the Federal University of Paraná, with extensive experience in Canada, as well as some experience in Scotland and England, receiver of a C2 Grade-A English Proficiency Certificate, from the University of Cambridge, U.K., the highest English Proficiency Certification issued in Europe, Viktor has been helping his father, Prof. Ray von Schmalz, since age 10, when he helped assisting students in the school lab. At age 14, he was already behind the online programs of the school. He is co-author of Reading Book One and has helped to develop new computer systems for the Canadian English Centre. He is also a professional novel writer, having launched two adventure books, Free Seas - Orion and Free Seas - Gemini, published by Amazon in the United States. Viktor is also a talented musician and song writer, with some of his productions published on YouTube. He is the lead singer of the band All in Four. Today, as a managing partner of the school, he works primarily in the administration, creative centre and IT department of the school and he also gives classes in our online programs.

Qualifications: Shoji Nagatuyio is a Brazilian and a graduate from the Canadian English Centre's Advanced Academic English Program. After having worked for us as a lab monitor and then as an intern, Prof. Ray von Schmalz noticed his enormous dedication and natural-born teaching talent and invited him to join the Teachers' Training Program. Shoji has a Bachelor's Degree in IT from the UFPR and a Business Administration Degree from FESP-PR, as well as almost 30 years of experience working at a large multinational company, which brought him extensive experience in the proper use of business English, through daily contact with foreigners. Today he is taking a number of online English-teaching courses offered by the British Council at the Universities of Southamptom, Reading, and Leeds, all in the United Kingdom.

Qualifications: Luiz Angeloni is a Brazilian, and a Canadian English Centre graduate, with some years of experience teaching English as a second language. Luiz worked as a lab monitor and then participated in the Canadian English Centre’s Teachers’ Training Program with Prof. Ray von Schmalz. It is also worth mentioning that Luiz has many years of experience using English in his daily life. He is also part of the management team of the Canadian English Centre and gives full support to students of all levels in the school's language laboratory and study centre.

Nationality:

Qualifications: Fernando Doszanet Elias is a Brazilian, having graduated from Book 5, academic English level, at the Canadian English Centre. Fernando has also an Industrial Engineering bachelor’s degree from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), and one year of academic specialization at the California State University in the United States of America. Fernando has some years of experience teaching English as a second language, having participated in the Canadian English Centre’s Teachers’ Training Program with Prof. Ray von Schmalz. He gives classes to Books 0 to 3 but focuses mostly on Book 3.
